Angela Morehouse is the lead attorney of The Morehouse Law Firm. With experience on all levels of Virginia's court systems, she is uniquely qualified to serve your family's legal needs. Ms. Morehouse frequently negotiates and litigates family law matters including divorce, custody, spousal support, equitable distribution, and child support in both Circuit Courts and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts throughout Northern Virginia. Her practice also centers on estate administration litigation, guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, and other elder law issues for which she regularly appears before local Circuit Courts and Commissioners of Accounts. She is also a Qualified Guardian ad Litem for both children and incapacitated adults, vigorously defending the interests of our most vulnerable populations.
Prior Experience Ms. Morehouse served previously as a law clerk for the Honorable William D. Hamblen, retired, of the Circuit Court of Prince William County and worked for the Supreme Court of Virginia's Office of Chief Staff Attorney. She also externed for Justice Elizabeth A. McClanahan, presently of the Supreme Court of Virginia, during her tenure on the Court of Appeals of Virginia.
Memberships and Associations Angela Morehouse is a member in good standing of the Virginia State Bar, the Prince William County Bar Association, the Virginia Women Attorneys Association (where she is the Legislative Chair of the Prince William Chapter), the Virginia Guardianship Association, the Northern Virginia Mother Attorney Mentoring Association (for whom she is a Founding Member and current Treasurer), the Guardian ad Litem Ad Hoc Committee of Prince William County, and the Young Lawyer's of Prince William County.
Education and Publication
A graduate of the William & Mary School of Law, Ms. Morehouse earned her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Old Dominion University, where she was honored as the valedictorian of the College of Arts & Letters. She was a co-author of a 2012 Virginia Lawyers' Weekly article on the Commonwealth's new guardianship laws and is published in the Intercultural Human Rights Law Review of the St. Thomas University School of Law (2010), as well as the Program in Comparative Legal Studies of the William and Mary School of Law (2009).
Recent speaking engagements by Ms. Morehouse include a 2012 Elder Abuse presentation for Soroptimist International of Prince William County, a Continuing Legal Education seminar on Elder Law for the Prince William County Bar Association in 2010, and a panel presentation for St. Thomas University School of Law's Symposium on U.S. Immigration Detention in 2009.
Personal Originally from Hampton Roads, Ms. Morehouse has resided in the Commonwealth of Virginia nearly all her life. She is a proud mother of two young children, serves as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and enjoys backcountry camping in her spare time. She believes firmly in making personal connections with her clients that enable her to provide them emotional as well as legal support.
